Oscars Hotels was founded by brothers Bill and Mario Gravanis in 1988 all before they were 20 years of age! Their first acquisition was the Southern Cross Hotel which the gents traded till 1993 until the sale.
They then purchased the Bankstown Hotel and then two more venues in the south west which set them on the path. Southern Cross would soon be bought again and would become a permanent fixture in the Oscars` portfolio – and also acts as the base for Head Office.
The Oscars brand was founded in 2004 when the directors embarked on a massive restructure of the business which would result in several venues undergoing extensive refurbishment and acquisitions aplenty. Oscars Hotels currently operates nine venues and is still planning on expansion - Southern Cross Hotel, Oscars Bar & Restaurant in Pyrmont, Bankstown Hotel, Oscars Sports Bar in Bankstown, The Court Hotel in Campelltown, Sweeney`s in the CBD, The Parkview Hotel in Alexandria and the Towradgi Beach Hotel was bought as the Illawarra Champion Hotel in 2000 and was renovated during 2006 into what is now the most impressive hotel venue in the Wollongong region.
The most telling tale for Oscars Hotels existence is the fact that the group now in its 20th year of business and after experiencing hardship in the 90`s, is now one of the most successful and respected boutique groups within the NSW Hotel Industry with their newest renovation, The Camperdown Hotel, shaping up to be one of their flagship venues.
The Camperdown now has 3 levels : Impressive Cafe Bar and Sports/TAB Bar on the ground level flanking an open plan kitchen, a Star Lounge (Oscars Hotels Gaming Lounges) a luxurious and stunningly open 2nd level with leather lounges and shot through with colour (perfect for functions!), a corner pool table room, a roof top courtyard which will be opening soon.
